🌟Unlock Your Inner Sunshine: Simple Steps to a Positive Week

Image
Hey everyone!  Feeling a little grey lately?  Let's intentionally cultivate a brighter outlook. I've realised that it doesn't take grand gestures, just small, consistent steps. Let's follow this simple list: Start your day with gratitude. Write down three things you appreciate. Connect with uplifting people and limit negativity. Remember, your thoughts shape your reality. Fuel your body and mind. Nourish yourself with vibrant foods that energize you and take short breaks throughout the day to stretch, move and consume the good stuff (water). Consider incorporating a few minutes of meditation or deep breathing exercises to calm your mind amidst the hustle. Remember to celebrate small victories and acknowledge your progress, no matter how tiny it may seem. By consciously nurturing your physical and mental health, you create a powerful foundation for a positive week. Embrace the journey of wellbeing. It's the right train to be happy on this year! Choose positivity an...

🥶Socks and Snoods (IYKYK)

Image
😜When Vicky and Cosa have been packed away, floor length hoodies, coats, boots and snoods make a timely comeback. Let the ladies rejoice! We're ready to sink into clouds of warmth and fluff - the kind that wraps us in pure comfort and whispers joy through the chill of Winter. As the days grow shorter, the soft embrace of our favourite pyjamas and dressing gowns are cherished companions.  But let's talk about wearing socks to bed.  Yay or nay? We're already wearing half our Winter wardrobe to bed. But let's add gloves.  Now we're ready to  cuddle like champions. Just turn on the heater. Uhm...loadshedding. South Africa, are you there? Can you believe that gas heaters have gained popularity in our country over the years? Lions and other risk factors aside, how else do we survive the colder months?  You guessed it. Layers.  Flannel, wool, brushed cotton and sherpa. By no means glamorous. Yet, we agree that it gets the job done. Especially at night. "What abou...

✨Not Another Monday Motivation

"My life didn't please me, so I created my life" - Coco Chanel. She believed that having courage, establishing clear goals, remaining committed, and following one's unique journey is essential. This idea is truly wonderful—simply splendid! It portrays confidence. Confidence is knowing that what you hold true cannot be bartered. Confidence is alluring. When confidence is combined with charm, a splash of sass, a decent amount of business-savvy, street smarts, intuition, and seasoned with experience, you become a magnetic force field. Ladies, top that off with a good lipstick and a killer pair of heels, and voila ! You're ready to conquer the world. I'm told that men only require a splash of cologne and a well-groomed beard. Ohhh-kay. That being said, be mindful of those who remain silent when you succeed. Similarly, be wary of individuals who publicly celebrate you while secretly wishing for your downfall behind closed doors.   Note to future ...

🐟Fish, Family and Forgiveness

Image
I carry bittersweet memories of my mom preparing pickled fish, potato salad and fish cakes for the Holy weekend. Hot cross buns were stacked in the cupboard, alongside a box of Easter Eggs. My mom was small in stature, with a heart bigger than all good deeds combined. She was a God-fearing woman. Feisty and filled with a zest for life and love. Her smile could light up the universe.  To this day, I cannot comprehend how she carried the weight of strife on her shoulders, with such grace.  Only by the Grace of God, no doubt. Her words still echo loud and clear: "Forgive and forget." My first blogpost is dedicated to you, mom. Let us remember the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. By doing so, may your home be blessed by His grace and love, for all eternity. May you and your loved ones break bread in celebration of our Risen Lord. May His Holy name bring mercy and abundance of all that is good. Stay safe, family and friends. Love, CaliRose🌹. 👉 View my content on:  CaliR...

💫Single Life, Potential Wife (Trigger Warning)

Image
Pfff! Po-ta-to, po-tah-toe. "Would you rather be single, stress-free and live life on your own terms, or be with someone for companionship, convenience and social acceptance?" Yes, my Tinder dates wouldn't be a colourful comedy piece without this question. Self-sabotage? Maybe. In retrospect, here's what I've deduced. Age has made me a sceptic, life experience has made me wary, and time is growing old. Fast. For argument's sake, let's talk about the BIG letter L. Loneliness. What exactly are we longing for, in an age of self-sufficiency, independence, instant gratification and increasing awareness of psychological damage? If longing is fed from time to time, will that satiate the desire for understanding? Will it sustain a fleeting moment of intimate connection beyond the physical realm? Can it hold true to the great idea that love will find a way? More so, do we know what we want? Perhaps there's a compatible soul for each one of us....

🍔How Do You Eat a Burger?

Image
🍴With a knife and a fork. Measure small, bite-sized pieces. Chew with your mouth closed... Blah blah blah! Bougie much. Let's try that again. Thoroughly wash your hands. Now, slowly close your eyes and imagine a succulent patty with all your favorite trimmings, nestled between two soft, warm buns. Smell the smokey deliciousness of grilled perfection waiting to be devoured. Use both hands to lift the savory masterpiece into your mouth. Enjoy with condiments, gusto and a cold beverage. Fine. I'm not live streaming a mukbang, so let's compromise, shall we? Give me a moment to appreciate my food.  In fact, grant me some tablespace to delight in the sight of hot sauce dripping down my fingers.  I'll smack my lips in silence, while you focus on your own culinary experience. This is MY happy place. I could be sipping on Merlot in the comfort of my bed, but here we are. Messy burger munchers unite! Love, CaliRose🌹. 👉 View my content on:  CaliRose K. - YouTub...

🍾Straight From The Bottle

🍷Social etiquette suggests that we keep the merriment sophisticated and stay hydrated. Hold on. Is responsible day drinking reserved for the sophisticated genteel? What about the rest of us who would gladly accept a refreshing Aperol Spritz, for the sake of feigning glamour? Others would settle for a cold brew instead.  It is necessary at times. Right?  No judgement here. Whilst some of us can tolerate a daily clown show at the office, being sober at an event where one is required to imbibe for the sake of “playing nice”, is rare.  One drink to be social, another to ignore the office villain, and one for the road.  Two drinks for Sally’s belated birthday, and five to celebrate Caleb’s divorce. We’ve all been there. We remember the hangovers. Ten years later, what was once considered a normal night out, is now code for “It’ll take three days of recovery”. Give me a Friday night, cuddled in front of a warm fire, a cheese board, red wine, and delightful company. Listen...
