🎭Unpacking Toxic Positivity and Happy Pill Fatigue💊

Image
Toxic Positivity. Is it an old or new buzzword? Not sure.  But the underlying pressure to perform happiness is an age-old stage burden. In fact, we’ve turned "staying positive" into a high-performance masquerade! Let's unpack. Case in Point: You simply cannot ignore my feel-good articles😊, the pastel-coloured quotes telling you to "Just be happy!" , or the colleague who responds to a crisis with a chirpy "Everything happens for a reason!" ,  without rolling your eyes first. While well-intentioned (not referring to the eye-rolling here), I've come to realise that this could be the hallmark of Toxic Positivity.  Well, maybe not the hallmark, per se, but I'm referring to the overgeneralization of a forced happy and optimistic state across all situations. The conscious suppression of not-so-happy emotions to maintain an upbeat facade 24/7, for the greater good. *The martyr alert begins in 5...4...3...* The Positive Side: A positive mindset undou...

💼Recruitment or Reinvention? Choose Your Next Chapter📖

Image
Can you feel it? "Recruitment Season" has arrived. Talent Hunters are circling and the pressure to leap is palpable. But before you update that resume, let’s pause.  Is this the season for an increase in salary, or is it the season for reinvention ? We’ve all seen the "hustle" posts.  Yip. The heavy, technical, sometimes repetitively mundane content that treats careers like algorithms. But your value to the marketplace isn’t a set of keywords or a birth year on a calendar. Your true value is the unique narrative you’ve woven through every challenge you’ve conquered. The Dilemma of the Doorway Deciding to leave the familiar is never easy (right?). I've been told that "Navigating a career change isn't about escaping a shadow; it's about walking toward your light, regardless of the options and dreaded what-ifs". Is it really? And where's the silver lining?  Well, it seems that the marketplace doesn't just hunger for our skills; it also cra...

📣We are two weeks into 2026, and the "New Year, New Me" machinery is already starting to grind. You’ve likely been flooded with rigid maps, vision boards, 12-step career ladders, 30-day health overhauls, and technical "blueprints" for success.  But these mechanisms assume that the terrain of your life never changes, and that your heart and circumstances remain static. The problem?  Most of us are exhausted before we even reach February!  Resolution Fatigue is real. It's the heavy, unauthentic pressure to add more to our already overflowing plates. 💡This year, let’s trade the rigid map for a compass . A compass doesn’t tell you exactly where to step; it tells you who you are while you’re walking. It’s about discovering your North Star, not milestones. The most effective way to find your North Star isn't by adding new habits. It’s by auditing your old ones and moving forward in faith and strength. Enter the ‘Stop-Doing’ List. Instead of a daunting To-Do...
